…the longest war in American history, fought simultaneously with an eight-and-a-half-year-long war in Iraq and only one percent of the population fighting it, doing three, four, five, six, seven tours while we gave ourselves multiple tax cuts? I mean, we gave ourselves a tax cut right before 9/11. Then 9/11 happened, we invaded Afghanistan. We didn’t give the tax cut back. Then we gave ourselves another tax cut right before invading Iraq. Who does that?! What kind of country does that? That’s not a country that’s thinking of itself as going to war.
